Led by a team of experienced music industry professionals with backgrounds in recording, live events, media, artist development, label operations, and management, our mission is simple: to unite Michigan's diverse music ecosystem and create opportunities for artists, industry professionals, and music supporters throughout the state.

As the organization behind the annual Michigan Music Awards, the Michigan Music Initiative works year-round to recognize excellence, foster collaboration, and promote the growth of Michigan's music industry. The Michigan Music Awards, our flagship annual event, celebrates outstanding achievements in original music across a wide range of genres, including Pop, Rap/Hip-Hop, R&B, Blues, Rock, Metal, Country, Americana, Bluegrass, Gospel/Contemporary Christian, Electronic, Latin/International, Classical/Theater, and Jazz. The awards are peer-voted, giving artists and industry professionals the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of their peers, while select special honors are determined by a panel of respected music industry professionals.
